Thanks to the generous support of community volunteers, the Town of Portsmouth, RI, and the inspiration of its founder, Bunny Miller, the Portsmouth Dog Park opened in May 2017. This special spot for dogs and their humans is nestled along the entrance to the beautiful Melville Park and Trails in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, near the shores of Narragansett Bay. Open and free to the dog-loving public, the Portsmouth Dog Park has fast become a cherished community asset. Those who enjoy the Park, residents and visitors alike, help ensure that the Park is kept safe and clean by following our sensible rules of responsible dog ownership.

The Portsmouth Dog Park
On Saturday, September 25, we had an extremely successful Community Clean-up from 9am-12noon. Thanks to many of our regular dog park users and a contingent of volunteer Marines from the Naval Justice School (arranged by one of their instructors and a dog park regular herself) we were able to fill holes, pull weeds from around our new trees, put down mulch around the trees, rake some of the stones from the dirt around the entrance and so much more. The enthusiasm and energy of all the volunteers was extraordinary and the park looks great. BIG THANKS TO ALL!!!
